smaller live food. I have a 2 incher right now that eats rosey reds almost as big as it! A good rule of thumhb with largemouth bass (and smallmouth): if it will fit into its mouth....IT WILL FIT INTO ITS MOUTH

Bloodworms, krill, shrimp, really just about anything. I've had almost newborns take to bloodworms the first day in captivity, and multiple other foods weeks after.

I would definately recomend getting him on sinking carnivore of floating cichlild pellets. Mine will eat anything that moves, or floats, or sinks, or that exists and fits in his mouth. It's fun to watch them get rosys and see the scales fly, but just about as fun and more economical to drop a pellet at the far end of the tank and see him get there faster than the fish that are only a few inches away.

I would be careful. Sounds like the smaller LMB might become food for the bigger guy. They will eat anything and EVERYTHING that fits into thier "body". Sometimes it doesn't fit into their mouth lol and it takes them hours to finish a meal.

Hey Basshead I had two small Bass that size and at first I fed them tiny dragonfly nypmhs, mosquito larva, scuds, etc. You could also try chopped earthworms and tiny crickets and/or grasshoppers. When they got bigger I fed them anything from spiders, ants, flys, and crickets. I never used feeder fish becuase I was having enough problem with ick and I didn't want to risk it. I found that my bass (one died) preferred soft food and did not eat hard insects such as beetles. Hope this helps!
