They are about 8 years old and were getting quite aggressive (gill flaring, nipping, chasing). I believe the the striped one was the one I saw fanning the substrate just once. Im not sure if sexing is possible on coloration alone though. The dark one got a bit beat up so they are separated at the moment.

Can anyone sex these greenies?

The first picture looks like a male in my opinion. The behavior you describe supports that. The second one could also be male and is submissive. 8 years is a great run, and you can see the slight atrophy starting on the darker fish. Cool fish.
