Fishes of the Middle Savannah River Basin......

Females spawn in multiple clutches, and groups of ova are synchronously recruited from a reservoir of immature oocytes. Clutch size averages 109 (70-147) eggs. Both sexes mature in one year at about 32 mm SL (Warren et. al. 1991).

I would offer Warren et. al (1991) but it is a report from the Illinois department of natural history. Apparently the data given above is from a captive population captured in Illinois.

How about this reference, which may or not be easy to get:

Burr, B.M., et al. 1989. Reproductive potential and habitat of the ironcolor shiner, NOTROPIS CHALYBAEUS, in Illinois. Unpubl. report submitted to the Ill. Endangered Species Protection Board, Springfield, IL. 27pp.

Marcus you saved me again. I've really gotta get that book, or our division does. I couldn't find any references/abstracts in databases or google anything up.

Thanks!

Bruce, thanks for another pointer. I might have to update a whole document I don't want to be responsible for if I'm finding answers to alot of N/A or unknowns.

No problem --- the full citation for that info is:

Warren, M.L. Jr., B.M. Burr, and C.A. Taylor. 1991. Aspects of reproduction in a captive population of the state threatened ironcolor shiner (Notropis chalybaeus). Final report submitted to Division of Natural Heritage, Illinois Department of Natural History.
