Has anyone ever kept them before? How big do they get? What size tank would they need?

Spotted Bass do not get as big as Largemouth Bass, or Smallmouth Bass, but you would still need a large tank. Considering the All Tackel World Record is 10 lbs, 4 oz according to the National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of fame.

I have kept Largemouth and Spotted Bass in the past at different times. I had them in a 30 long, and they got too big for the tank I thought. I released them into the privet pond I caught them from. The Largemouth Bass were 13.25" and 12" when I let them go and the Spotted Bass was 13".

I was considering trying them again in my 130 gal when it becomes avalible again.

They were a lot of fun but you need to think ahead when getting a fish that can get this big.

i used to have one, got it at about 3 inches long. It would only eat live fish, and when it didnt it really didnt do much at all. Didnt really intereact with other fish, or show any interesting behavior. I just stayed in place, and sometimes swam around. I eventually got rid of it as it started to get bigger. The various sunfish i have are far more entertaining.
