Here are pix of fish I collected this weekend just west of Topeka.

On the ones that have the white squares, about 6 squares = 1 inch

Im pretty sure the darters are orangethroats, the madtoms are slender, and the sunfish are bluegills and orangespotteds.

And, if anyone knows what kind of waterbug this is, and if its a threat to my fish, I would appreciate it.

Your minnow is a southern redbelly dace, the larger fish is a white sucker, the darters and madtoms you apear to be correct on, the first three sunfish are central longears, and the last one is and orangespotted sunfish.

I got an ID for the water bug on another forum, water scavenger beetle, in the family Hydrophilidae, genus Tropisternus.
