My male golden topminnow (from Florida I believe?) is hot for my female banded killi (from Maryland). Lots of courting fin and body waggling aqnd other amorous behavior. I don't expect anything out of it, if it was possible, because of the other tank residents, but is it possible? Or is the golden just trying to do his thing with whatever is around since his girl died a few months ago?

Well, we all know that males of most species are dogs and will consort with anything that lets them. I doubt that conception, much less offspring, could be produced between chrysotus (subgenus Zygonectes) and diaphanus (subgenus Fontinus). The karyotypes of even closely Fundulus species are often very different, a very effective reproductive barrier. Having said that, I'm not sure if anyone has paid a whole lot of attention to the cytogenetics of either of these species, but I could be wrong.
