Mine usually only eats feeder fish, but about two weeks ago I tried putting a nightcrawler in the tank. He wasn't interested. Just a few days ago, though, I saw that the worm was still alive (they can live a lot longer underwater than I thought) and a few hours later I came back and saw that he had it in his mouth. It was longer than him. He kept trying to eat if for a few hours, and eventually he just gave up.
Anyways, what kinds of plants are those? And where did you get them? Can I get them at a pet store?

All these plants are perfect for grass pike. Or for that matter, any fish that likes vegetation.
These plants are easy to grow with bright light (3Watts/gallon) and CO2. I do use liquid and tablet fertilizer as well.
I have changed my tank around since then. I thinned it out since it was getting overgrown. I removed the hornwort, and prunned the ludwigia.
Pike is hiding behind the ludwigia.
Here is the new layout.
And here are the plant pics...
Pic 1: new arrangement
Pic 2: Crypts
Pic 3: Grass
Pic 4: Ludwigia
Pic 5: Ludwigia
I will post a new pic of the tank once she grows in. I am thinking in about 2 weeks.

Depending on where you live you may be able to collect your own. You can also buy them (if they are in stock) from some of the commercial vendors on this forum.Where can I get Grass Pickerel? and What size tank is good???
A 55 gallon is the smallest size I would recommend.
