i really wanna fish for these 2 and take them to my pond but are there any?

i caught a green sunfish on a small jig when i was going for big bluegills! i thought it was a pumpkin though..
and i released him since it was caught in mercury contaminated water..

It would help to know where you are located.

If you are not going to eat the fish, any mercury that the fish has accumulated in its life will not harm you or tank mates. The smaller the fish, the less mercury. Are you in the sierra foothills or farther down the drainage? I'm guessing the mercury is from gold mining?

California law very explicitly states that you cannot transport live fish from the place you caught them without special permit from the Dept of Fish & Game. This makes trying to keep native aquatium fishes nearly impossible in this state. Fish for ponds have to be purchased from a state-licensed supplier (you can get a list from the DFG). Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

cheers,
Dave

i'm in almaden. san jose, CAlifornia.
i think all the mercury is from the quicksilver mines they used to have.

oh that sucks..
but
i want to also fish for them too!
i did catch a nice green sunfish but i think that was the only one in the lake..(probably released)
