When I was read in other forum about florida flagfish, the balloon type was bred. Are they does exist? If so what they looks like? I tried find a picture of balloon flagfish but can't find anywhere.

I don't see flagfish in Minnesota local pet stores very often so I was assumed they were not popular with Minnesota people. What you thinking of this balloon flagfish? What's wrong with our normal ones?

I'm not quite sure what you are trying to say or getting at for the most part but flagfish have been in the tropical fish hobby for decades and can commonly be found at LFS's.

I think he's asking if ballon flagfish exist, like the balloon version of mollies. And I agree with him that balloon types are quite grotesque looking.

I think he's talking about the round bodied ones, like balloon mollies and such.

Nice timing... we both posted pretty much the same thing at the same time!

I've personally never seen them. I think all balloon fish are hideous malformed fish.

Seems you beat me by a hair...

Anyway, I don't have anything against man-made fish (I own a flowerhorn myself), as long as it doesn't impair the fish's abilities, which you can argue a balloon shaped body might. To each his own I guess.

I have seen a tank of flagfish labeled as ballonn flags, but the looked like normal flags. My guess is that ballon flags look just as wierd as ballon mollies do.

I think it depends on where the flagfish were gathered.

In some places, the flagfish might look chunky while in other places, they might look streamlined.

The same happens with Sheepshead pupfish (Cyprinodon variegatus)

Ballon flagfish are bred in Singapore and have been available since 2003. A photo can be found at:

What a shame!

I concur 100%
A bubble eyed three tailed flagfish that floats upside down when you feed it sounds even better. :|
