We went a couple of days before getting lucky and getting a generator. My tropical tanks got down to 70 degrees F and no tanks had filtration or air...
Luckily we now have a generator and tanks all have at least one filter and one heater (if needed) plugged in. I think my Natives will probably suffer the least, but my Tanganyikan Cichlids are super sensitive to temp changes and many of them are wild caught from Africa....So I'm worried...
It's messy (It's hard to clean in the dark ) But here are some pics of the spider web of power cords running from the generator to the fish room and living room...Kinda feel weird playing on Xbox Live when my neighbors are having trouble staying warm. Oh well...I got a generator and they don't...
I do fear someone trying to steal it. Social order is only So/So right now with some looting go on and police and fire departments pushed to their limits... In a silent, blacked out neighborhood a generator is like a siren song going "steal me...steal me...steal me"... One guy already blasted some dude in the butt with a shotgun for breaking into his apartment LOL.
Here are some pics of the destruction in my neighborhood:
I also have some "pretty" pictures of ice on trees and stuff...but I don't feel like posting "pretty pictures" right now...

i worked on the national forest in NH the summer after their big ice storm. it was surreal. there were whole mountainsides where every single tree was snapped off right where the crown started to branch. it was really difficult to work in there.
good luck with all of that. it's good that your house is mostly OK.

and i am sorry to get off topic but i feel the need, are you serious with that avatar arnoldi? if you are, i can't help but question your motives for joining a fish association that has to do with the conservation of fish.

blakemarkwell~
I think puchisapo is being ironic...all the kids are doing it now-a-days.
Yeah, exotic species when kept responsibly are great. I hated having to burn all the fossil fuel (cus it was freaking expensive). Yeah, it was "dirty" from an environmental standpoint, but not really any worse than someone driving a small scooter cross country for a couple days

oh i was just responding to arnoldi's avatar. i think we should do our best to conserve natural resources and prevent exotics and avoid littering and stuff like that, but his avatar struck me funny. note also his wonderfully cheery signature
we were spared the ice here in WI, but the city has already blown its whole snow removal budget and there is more on the way. it's pretty outside anyway and it's great if you're a kid--they're putting together ice rinks all over town, which hasn't happenned much the last few years.

It probably has something to do with my proximity to our nation's capitol.

It is a maxim among these lawyers, that whatever hath been done before, may legally be done again: and therefore they take special care to record all the decisions formerly made against common justice and the general reason of mankind.
