I feed him cichlid flake, freeze dried brine shrimp cubes, Live minnows, tubifex worm cubes. Im also not sure how much he should get to eat in a day. If I feed him cichlid flake he would probably be able to eat half of the container in one day. If I give him 40 live minnows he will usually eat about 20 and eat the rest over the next coulpe of days but I have also given him flake food even after he eats the minnows and he still eats it. I have posted a pic from right after I caught him and one from a week or two ago. This is the same fish that I posted in the fish id section back in August of 06.

Bluegill grow pretty fast. If I were you, I would try to get him on pellets. How big is he now? If fed enough, just about any sunfish species can grow and inch a month.

He is about 6 inches from tail to the nose. His overall height and shape I would say look something like one of those small plastic footballs that they throw up in the stands at football games but of course not wide like that. What particular brand of pellet food is good and is dry food better than live food or both are good?

Pellets are 10x better than live(except for conditioning for breeding, where frozen foods and live earthworms are better). He could get full sized in 6 more months if you feed him well. I use HBH Super Soft. My warmouth and largest male longear have both grown about 1" a month. For the first month or so I fed frozen bloodworms, then I started using the pellets.

BTW, that a nice looking bluegill.
