I'm with ideas from the thread that was started about the Nanfa calendar. We could/should do scheduled chat times, with certain topics in mind. One person could volunteer to be a "chat leader" on a certain subject that they are knowledgeable of. If people are concerned with the topic they will make time to get into that chat session. Just thoughts...just thoughts...

I would answer that but I expect my actual answer would be quietly and anonymously deleted before you could read it. As will this non-answer. :glare:

I will gladly answer this. Your moderation team is very devoted to this site. We remove posts to keep this place informative. And if I do say so myself, we do a damn good job!

Please visit the native fish forum here. http://www.monsterfi...isplay.php?f=17

Since we are not a NANFA member only forum, we could easily turn into the above. But your moderators, and administrators insure that our forum does not become useless blather. Notice that as you read through, that our own Admin staff basically moderates this forum out of the goodness of their hearts.

Yes we delete posts. That is our job. If we stop doing it, the above is what you will get.

If anyone wants to discuss this further, you can PM me.
Now back to the discussion about a chatroom.

And not to Nip you Matt as I support your decision 100% in deleting this but to make this clear and make it clear right now I'm going to respond to this as it is irritating:

Moderation has to be done from time to time, sure. But doing it anonymously and without providing feedback to the moderated is really damaging to the community. Not to mention incredibly disrespectful.

We are in fact in private discussion about this and working on methods to fix this so you have been listened to already. When we find a solution it will be implemented and tested. Just because we are not telling you things does not mean that we are not doing anything to address your or other member issues.

We are a Volunteer group with our own lives and our own work to do. We are not a fast food restaurant where you order something and you receive crap promptly with a smile.. We take a Gourmet approach so that what you receive is quality.. We do not function on a made for order basis. We do take our time with working out details and specifics.

One thing I will say though is that when things become a "chat" between one or two people with no context or value to the subject we will quickly kill on a discretionary basis... We may at this time tell you why or maybe not if it is not something we really feel you need to be told about.. 99% of the time we try to assume your an adult and can understand in one way or another that if you get a deleted post that means we are just trimming fat and we assume that you can take this as an adult. We do not actually delete many posts.

We as a management team can and do review deleted posts from each other.. This being an example.

Just as the members have to be held accountable for their conduct, the staff must also be held accountable for their own conduct, especially given the escalated privileges they have here, and the fact that this is the official community paid for by NANFA members.

This forum is Volunteer staffed as I said before. This forum also could have easily been not NANFA but just Five guys that like Native fish and came up with this in their spare time because they saw a need and would be paying for it themselves anyhow NANFA or not.

We started this forum not being NANFA sponsored at all (but all of us where NANFA members). NANFA approached us and we then became through agreement of all original parties the Official NANFA forum. This was not a NANFA idea it was the five guys that run this site and volunteer their time idea. We now do acknowledge and very much cater to the NANFA membership but our original vision is ours and we are not going to throw this away quickly.

Our decisions are based on this original goal of what we want this to be and that is not going to change.. We are little over a year old and we are still working out things.

Have patience as we work out the various issues we face.. We are not interested in doing things in a mediocre manner. Our ideal is to do things right with all stakeholders having a say. We welcome ideas and opinions some we may implement in some way some not.
