I declare the winner to be Green Sunfish.

Maybe, but I have two, and am using them to introduce my community to the wonders of native fish. We get them in with feeder goldfish at my pet store, so I give them away. Already have created a few devoted fans.I don't have any of those, they can't be the winner.

I agreeThis thread is actually useless without a real poll. I don't know how to set one up, but that would be the real way to determine the answer (and would be much more interesting too, as I bet more people would provide input).

when I started this thread I was hoping people would add there fish to the number of fish before them. I guess that was a unrealistic idea. It would be more likely to work if this was just a common sunfish poll, greens bluegills and longears, etc.

Just about 90% of "what is this?" threads can be answered with "green sunfish".

Not gonna work here Martin. Our members are fairly educated. I think Drew is referring to forums in general. He is correct when it comes to the other forums with their small native sections, most of the time it is a green sunfish, a swamp darter, or a seminole killi.

But most commercial mollies are intensely hybridized organisms with some variable amount of sailfin genetic material. Luckily this never happens to green sunfish...I would guess that the most commonly kept native is the sailfin molly, given how popular it is in the mainstream aquarium trade.
