My friend Bill Ballard asked me this:

Did the species from the east Alabama, west Georgia area that looks like P euryzonus but with a very broad body and huge dorsal and anal fins ever get it's status resolved? Is it just a fancy euryzonus,or a new species??The whole"hypselopterus"subgroup is still puzzling to me!I think it's not the one called"grandipinnis".Body color like hypselopterus, euryzonus, ect but body very stocky. Fish reach about 2 and 3 quarter in with dorsal and anal fins very enlarged, breeding fish(as far as I could tell both sexes)have bright orange ,or red oragne tails, habitat was a bit odd for this group. It is tiny streams with muddy bottoms where the fish hid in small pools and are seldom seen casually.Seems to be found only in a small geographical area.
