Is it essential to have some floating/surface plants in a container setup for bluefin killifish and Florida flagfish?

I was thinking of putting a cheap TopFin waterlily in the container

I did that last year for a feeder guppy container

I can also get some water hyacinth and/or duckweed

I don't know how important it is to have, but if you need any, I have salvinia, duckweed, azolla, frogbit, and water sprite you're welcome to.

Mine don't seem to mind either way, I have water lettuce if you want some.

Thanks for the offer.

When it gets warmer I might take you up on it.

I have some java moss if you want some to trade

But other than that I don't keep much in the way of plants in my indoor tanks
