Has anyone kept them? I was wondering if they would do good in a 30 gallon stream setup with yellowfin shiners, bluehead chubs, fatheads, and rainbow darters? The yellowfins and bluehead chubs are in the same creek that these dixie chubs are in.

Thanks

Well I am no expert on Dixie Chubs, but as I recall they are most similar to Creek Chubs which I am familiar with... They are too omnivorous for a communicty tank in my opinion/experience. Their mouths are too large and they enjoy eating smaller fish. I have kep creek chubs successfully wuth things like bullhead cats (both at about 5 inches... neither thought the other was a meal)... or some sunfish. But their large hungry multipurpose mouth means that they are not really a great neighbor for some of the other fish you mentioned.

Has anyone kept them? I was wondering if they would do good in a 30 gallon stream setup with yellowfin shiners, bluehead chubs, fatheads, and rainbow darters? The yellowfins and bluehead chubs are in the same creek that these dixie chubs are in.

Thanks

Ok thanks.

I read somewhere that they only got about 6", so I thought maybe they would be ok, but the ones I have caught do have fairly large mouths, and I thought they were creek chubs at first.

Thanks for the reply.
