I have collected these in the past and they have the brightest fin colors of any of the hypselopterus group of fish.Breeding colors are almost blood red on fins, medium orange in winter.Dick Stober is the person who originally told me about these.Originally there was no problem collecting them, but the area is in a now restricted part of Eglin air force base where air force rangers sometimes train.Civilians are not wanted in the area. The "okaloosa darter" excuse is used to keep unauthorized personell away.
