I can't resist this. My first impression was creek chub too. Young juvies look a lot like that first photo. Then the later photos showed the overhanging snout, and looked like a blacknose dace, but not quite. That head. It's too wide, short and blunt. The snout, too short. But still the small mouth, unlike a creek chub. Those with sensitive eyes, look away. I have to do it. I'm going to use the H-word... Wait for it... Hybrid!

Maybe we should stage a Photoshop contest to create images of "hybrid" cyprinids. What would a hybrid between a rainbow shiner and a stoneroller look like?
