I've been perusing the internet to find a good on-line resource to identify creek minnow habitats and I discovered this one:

NatureServe Explorer

You must provide the species name in the search bar. It does a great job of mapping where they can be found.

Fow example, I did a search on my avatar fish, the Mountain Redbelly Dace:

Just enter this species in the search bar: Phoxinus oreas

and it will bring up an abundance of information.

I've noticed that the Virginia mountains seem to be especially blessed with a lot of species diversity.
