In late May I stumbled across spawning Sea Lamprey in several tributaries of Cayuga Lake, NY. It was a totally new thing for me - the only lamprey I'd previously seen was an unidentified brook species. This was really awesome to observe right up close.

Wow, thats very cool. I'll admit that I'm a bit jealous, especially given my proximity to Ithaca and Cayuga lake. I've never seen a spectacle like that myself.
Thanks, guys! Arthur - just check the local tributaries around spawning time next year. Do you happen to know if these have spread to the other Finger Lakes yet?
