A job advertisement to be opening soon in Missouri at Lincoln University. This will be largely for the purpose of aquaculture of food-fish.

DESCRIPTION: This position is to provide husbandry of aquatic organisms in both outdoor and indoor settings. Most efforts will be with species used in aquaculture but all aquatic species are of potential concern. Sunfishes, especially bluegill, will demand the greatest husbandry effort. Construction and maintenance of culture / experimental systems is expected. Inventory of fish stocks, feeds and consumables will be managed to support research activities. The ability to mill practical, semi-purified and purified diets is desired. The applicant will be expected to posses a permit for and be able to apply aquatic pesticides on university ponds. The applicant will be expected to develop and maintain contact with suppliers of materials and services to be used in aquaculture research. Collection of data and uploading into computers will be routine. Oversight of daily student activities for both externally funded and student projects. Leading tours of aquaculture operations for a range of visitors is expected. Weekends and odd hours will be needed periodically to meet requirements of research, husbandry, and outreach.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors of Science in Aquaculture or a related field. Experience with water reuse systems and pond production required. Experience with sunfish aquaculture preferred. Eventually a valid MO Driver’s License, and certified MO applicators permit for aquatic pest control will be required.

I am looking for someone having interest in culturing native species. We have lots of tank space and get paid for playing in creeks from time to time.
