When you all go out and gather native aquatic plants, what steps do you take to get rid of any parasites or unhealthy organisms on said plants before putting them into your tank? Thanks!!

Potassium Permanginate works very well to kill all hitch hikers.
also you can use highly chlorinated water but make sure you rinse and dechlorinate prior to putting in your tank!

I really don't do anything. I just put them in the tank. Never had a problem caused by plants. If you are determined to keep your tank snail-free, then you would need to kill snail eggs, but I don't bother.

Same here - I just stick 'em in the pond.

I do a visual check for big critters like dragonfly larvae and crayfish then let the fish eat the little stuff. Never once had any problems with disease or parasites. Been doing it for decades.

I have been know to dip the leaf portion (not the roots) of an emergent plant with rust into salt water for a few minutes. Seemed to work. Wouldn't do that unless I saw an actual problem however.
I would think that quarantine would be as much for detox as for disease. I worry about pollutions.
My guess would be rinsing in a mild soap than rinsing in clear water?

If I remember, I rinse them off in the sink. Usually I don't remember.
