how do you sex bullheads? i've named mine mortimer, but if it's a girl, i'll have to change the name. i'll upload images later. thanks

There's a difference in the uroginital papilla.

Centrarchid provided a couple pics to show the difference in green sunfish. The difference between sexes of bullheads is pretty similar. It's easier to tell if you have several fish to compare. I still have a little bit of trouble sexing the ones I catch.

Thanks! From what I can see, he's a male. There's no visible genitalia of any sort almost next to his anus.

The genitalia really only show a difference when in mature spawning condition, also at that time the females have larger abdomens then the males. They are very similar to Channel Catfish.
