Hi there,
I recently read the bk's can be kept in brackish water. Is this true? I've always kept mine in fresh water. :?

These guys are often found in coastal FW streams. We routinely get them from waters that are still tidally influenced alongside some species that are more salt oriented. I have never measured the water parameters to see what specidfic conditions they would tolerate, but I would guess they can take it pretty salty.

Just out of curiosity, why would you want to make them bracksih if you didn't have to? I have found these fish do best in smaller species only fully FW tanks with LOTS of vegetation. Most plants don't seem to thrive in brackish conditions.

I slowly changing one of my tanks over to brackish, and was reading a lot about what kind of fish can go in there. I read that bf's can handle brackish, and wanted to find out for sure. I also have a small tank that I'm trying to breed amano shrimp in. I vary the salinity for them, so I was wondering if I could raise bf fry in there.

Right now I only have 3 female bf's :( I need to get some males for them. They were born and raised in the tank they're in (a 20 long, fresh with lots of plants.)
