Blanchard River Watershed
Coordinator

The Blanchard River Watershed Partnership, a 501c3 non-profit, is searching for a one-year part-time watershed coordinator, who will initiate our plan to develop and fund a full time sustainable position in 2010.

Primary Responsibilities include

Implement the watershed public relations/marketing plan to improve stakeholder understanding of water quality issues in the watershed by being the voice of the Partnership among the stakeholders.

Complete and submit a state endorsable watershed plan utilizing the sub-watershed inventory collected by our volunteers.
Assist the Directors with grant identification and writing to establish sustainable funding for a full time position in 2010.


Minimum Requirements include, (1) a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Agriculture, City or Regional Planning, Natural Resources, Environmental Science or other related area of study. (2) Experience in group or organization and facilitation, (3) experience with project or program development or implementation in a related field and (4) demonstrated leadership ability.

This position can be structured to use the applicant’s home office or utilize the office space provided by a local partner stakeholder. The BRWP will consider job sharing to suit the skills and time availability of suitable applicants. Salary, benefits and expenses dependent on experience will not exceed $18,000 or 1200 hours.

Supplemental Information



Job Status: Part time, one-year salaried position with variable hours, some evenings
and weekends.
Work Location: Northwest Ohio watershed communities of Kenton, Findlay, Ottawa,
Bluffton
Salary: Benefits and Salary commensurate with experience
Position Term: Start date: January 2009

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Serve as the primary liaison and coordinator between local, state, and federal agencies, landowners,
stakeholders, private groups, and other interests throughout the watershed.
2. Help build support for the Blanchard River Watershed among its various stakeholders
3. Develop and coordinate watershed outreach efforts with Hardin, Hancock, Putnam, and Allen
Soil and Water Conservation Districts and the OSU Extension.
4. Research, write, and manage grant proposals to fund BRWP activities and projects.
5. Prepare and submit reports of watershed activities, including grant fund utilization, to foundations,
state agencies and the BRWP Board.
6. Review monthly operations statements and prepare proposal budgets.
7. Provide quarterly reports to the BRWP Board.
8. Coordinate and facilitate meetings of the watershed and coordinate public participation throughout
the process.
9. Perform other duties as assigned without undue burden.

Additional Requirements


The successful candidate will be self-motivated, energetic, possess the ability to work independently, and have a working knowledge of watershed issues, watershed management, watershed action plans, and agricultural Best Management Practices.

The successful candidate will have a reliable means of transportation, be capable of occasional overnight travel and be willing to submit to a criminal check, and alcohol and drug tests if required by funding sources.
