The Caesars Palace Aquatics Department is growing and has an entry level Aquarist position (1 yr exp.) opening immediatly. We have a diverse collection of tropical fish, seahorses, koi and goldfish. We are currently adding new exhibits and are in the planning phase for several more. The department is very independant and has creative control over animal selections and limited themeing modifications. We are looking for someone who is a creative thinker and can work in a small team environment. Excellent problem solving skills and the abiliy to work with little to no supervision are a must. Aquarist Assistant



Job Description

Assist Aquatics Coordinator in all aspects of tank maintenance and animal care for all aquariums within the Caesars Palace Hotel and Casino.



Job Duties

Include but are not limited to



* Food preparation, daily feeding and care of all aquarium animals
* Tank maintenance: cleaning, water changes, filter cleaning, etc.
* Water chemistry
* New animal acquisition and quarantine of new animals
* Medical treatments of sick or injured animals
* Maintenance and upkeep of all aquarium life support
* Daily record keeping
* Assist with the planning and construction of new aquariums and modification of existing aquariums
* Interact with guests and answer question regarding the aquariums, animals and hotel.



Required Qualifications



* 1 yr experience working with public display aquariums
* Must be able to work with little to no supervision
* Ability to bend, climb ladders, work in restrictive places and lift 50 lbs.
* Good problem solving skills
* Knowledge of basic quarantine techniques and disease recognition
* Basic SCUBA Certification



Additional Qualification (desired but not required)



* Ability to plumb with PVC pipe
* Basic knowledge of simple electrical wiring
* Basic carpentry skills: use of hand tools
* Aquarium diving experience



Starting Salary: $14/hr Full time with benefits
