I collected a bit in VA over the weekend. It didn't go as planned, the small moutain spring creek didn't have anything in it. I found out that it suffered a diesel spill over the summer from a mine, so I'm guessing most of the fish were gone.

I also sampled in the Powell River...it was too fast and deep at the one spot I stopped at to catch anything. With it being 40 degrees I didn't want to just jump in. However, I found/saw several spots that I'd like to sample in the spring/summer. I stopped at another small creek that feeds into the powell and caught several Redlines and several Snubnose. I never found an adult male snubnose. I did find this beautiful male Redline, he has beautiful long flowing fins...reminds me of a betta when he swims

Impressive, Josh! Those fins are something else.

I have to get down past Livingston soon and get a couple more. That one I got from you is looking a bit lonely.

Wow, very impressive. Cant wait to see it in your aquarium. Thanks for the one you brought me back, I am sure he will quickly become the king of the tank. Their range is primarily around Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky border I think. There are other spots, but that is where they are most abundant I believe, I will let someone else chime in if I am wrong here.

So, this guy is really pumped. His breathing is heavy and rapid. I need to calm him down so he doesn't die. Any suggestions?

A cold shower??? Seriously, do you have any Bag Buddies? One of those per gallon may cool him down.

Seriously!!! maybe you were right the first time Brian :) a gradual drop in temp might get him out of hurry-up mode, probably would lose some of that color though, what do you think

Boy, that would be a bit of a drive for me. I am planning to hit up the BSF area next weekend - Buck Creek, S Rockcastle and tributaries. Got my truck fixed, time to go exploring.

I might be willing to swap a couple of fine looking bluebreasts for a couple of redlines...
