Most species can tolerate although larger species should be avoided. Consider cramping if animal grows to larger size and water quality if your are going to feed heavily.
Where are you located and what species are you considering?

I have 4 Bluegills in a 100 gallon tank. I consider that the bare minimum. And that's not because of water quality; they need room.
I kept one 5" bully in a 20 for a while until I set up the 100. All it did was stare at me every time I went by.
I advise a bigger tank with good filtration.
