My wife and I went to a little creek last Saturday. I had previously found some large Johnny Darters there and was going to get one. My wife caught this beautiful Orangethroat. Though I already had one orangethroat, this one was too beautiful to pass up. It actually looks better once it's back in the tank than it did in the wild.
So, I thought I'd share some photos, the board has seemed to be a bit idle lately

That's good quality for an in tank photo. Definately an orangethroat variant...a sheltowee perhaps? What drainage were you in?

Those came from a small creek in Madison County KY, in the KY River drainage.

Yes, definitely not a true Etheostoma spectabile. We have true E. spectabile around here and coloring aside, the fish you posted has an overall different head shape.... or something. Nice photo!

Looks a lot like this one. I believe this is a juvenile headwater darter, from Crooked Creek. Note the blue on the anal fin, you can barely make it out.
