I'll join in too, I read enough scientific journal articles anyways for classes, so whats a few more going to hurt? Most of my class readings have to do with fish already.

Is there a reason we can't post these to the board? Are there legal copyright issues? If so, can we find a way around them?

The board is perfect for these type of discussions.

If need be, we can create a subforum under this forum and make it invite only and even password protect it.

Since you have to have a journal subscription to access the PDF's I don't think they would like them available for free download.

The short, easy answer is that it's better to distribute them in a targeted fashion. That's generally covered under "fair use". It's possible to post some publicly, like Joseph Collins does with his Herp list and site, but I'm not sure what the deal is with that.

I think we might want to take the very same group that responds to the list and create a password protected forum for discussion and viewing of these documents. This way the document and discussion could be read just like these topics. As long as the document is protected from public view, this seems to be the same as the e-mail list. You would have to "subscribe" to this portion of the forum in order to view or respond.

What do you folks think?

I think that would work, we certainly wouldn't be widely disseminating any articles.

For the record. I can't take any credit for this. Not only is this the idea of Drewish but he'll also implement the new forum when time permits. Oh, I almost forgot. If it doesn't work....it's all his fault
