I found some snails in Clark County, AL while crossing a creek.
I picked a few up in a water bottle.
the are shaped just like trumpet snails, except they are solid black.
none were larger than 1/2"
the shell has a smooth texture
thanks

Gotta be some kind of periwinkle (family Pleuroceridae). I think some Elimia are small and black. Was it in a little tiny headwater stream? That's where I usually see little black periwinkles.
