JUST A THOUGHT........

This spammer may have did all of us a favor by high lighting a blind spot in the security.
How would we all have liked to have logged in and then found some cyber nasty worm had just crawled into our hard drives.

A little wake up call is always a good thing as it keeps everybody on their toes.
This was just some unscrupulous retailer trying to cheat his way into a whole bunch of what he thought was a good customer base.
Drew caught him , found the hole in the fence and shut it closed! Excellent work!

The glass is 1/2 full..............always 1/2 full......... it was a minor inconvenience that found a leak for us. It could have been really ugly had it been a hacker bent on reaking havoc.

And as for Drew...he has a very limited work force if any to help with this. I think he is a much sharper guy then we give him credit for. He yanked this guy out of the site in just a few hours......or as they say in Irate's neighborhood....." He ran him up a tree faster than a pack of red bones on a coon".....

sa va,

Greg

The option does exist to not open any message from someone you do not recognize or have not spoken to via the forum. The (cyber) world isn't all that safe, plain and simple. There are only a handful of us who cannot be on all the time monitoring. I tend to catch the early morning SPAM because I am probably the first moderator on the East Coast into work (I don't like traffic). That said, I rarely check the forum past 9 p.m. EST when there is a lot of traffic. We have minimal spam compared to messenger services and many other boards IMO it's just typically been limited to more rated PG spam.

It used to be that computer programs would join forums and make a few spam messages. It seems recently that people are joining the forum then allowing computers to take over the spamming operation. It's nearly impossible to stop actual people from joining forums so this is something we're going to have to deal with if we want to communicate online. Did I mention that I hate spammers?

My cat can't perform that particular feat - he's half human, y'know.

I also got the HI! Message. Naturally I assumed that the group needed my help identifing an odd looking fish or some photography tips:] Its been a while since I visited and I enjoy reading your threads! Ready to join NANFA because I grew up in Southern WV with rocky creeks that were loaded with many multicolored minnows and madtoms that would take me to my knees when I held them wrong, I enjoy fish and creeks. If anyone remembers I posted a blurry darter picture that needed identified. My point is that I am glad I got the spam because I like playing in creeks and observing creek and pond life (in Western KY now). And Sorry, You just happen to have the answers to my questions.
