I was just wondering if these two species would do ok in a 55 together...for now. The bullhead will be 2" and the darters will be 2". Just didn't know if these 2 were no goes.

I have a few slender madtoms and a 3in bullhead in an 55 gal with around 20 or so various darters they seem to get along during the day but every few days when I flip on the light in the morning i'll notice a missing darter and a very fat little madtom/bullhead. I would not reccomend keeping them together unless you don't mind your bullhead having a late night snack at sometime.

No such thing as a 2" bullhead... they are only that size for a day or so... then they keep on eating, and eating, and eating... tank mated for bull heads have to be much larger than the bullhead... darters won't work...

I wouldn't recommend it, either. They might get along for a little while, but soon after the darters will be lunch.

Not only are they correct about about how fast the bullhead will grow, the other problem is bullheads are prone to grab things that're too big to swallow. That rarely works out well for the food item.
