Rainbow darter is very washed out and "panting" at the bottom of the tank. Didn't flee when i touched the glass (normally would have gone under the sponge filter right away). Any idea? I've added another filter to the tank hopefully it will help oxygenate it, I've dimmed the lights. Should I try feeding?

If he did not have enough oxygen he would have been hanging around the top of the tank so what are your ammonia levels?

I don't have the means to check that, but the other 4 fish are doing fine.

every fish owner should have a test kit. thats number 1. a responsibility. i dont know your other fish but bottom dwellers will be your first clue something is wrong with your tank. i suggest API test kit (liquid) you need to know your ammonia levels.

If there is a fish store nearby, they will test your water for you.

Hmm, how long have you had this fish, and how long has the tank had fish in it?
