I ride my bike to work in the city several times a week on the Mt. Vernon trail but have never really seen an area that would make a good "kick" site. I may have to wander around the telegraph road area some more.
Is there anything in particular that you will be looking for or just seeing what's out there?
Well, a little of both I guess
I am fortunate enough to work at a job where sampling macroinvertebrates is part of the job duties, so I constantly see different species along Rock Creek tribs and Anacostia tribs...but obviously nothing I could use in my own tank.
I would like to see what is around here and also try to find a few minnows or mummichogs...maybe a darter.

It looks like the little trib near "huntington park" may work...a little more toward telegraph/495 intersection.

Any of the small creeks in the area have tessellated darters, pumpkinseeds, shiners, dace, etc....loads of my fish have come out of Cameron Run.
Let me know if you want to get together and do some seineing.

Where do you access the water if you don't mind me asking you your spots? I was riding the metro over the stream and it looks incredibly silty and not too inviting as a kick site.
I need to get one of those dip nets at sports authority first I think....that should work well for darters.
I left a lot of my stuff back in Southern Missouri before I moved here.....darn!
Thank you for the response, it is encouraging .
Sincerely,

Hey, you know the bike trail right in front of Hampton Inn over there (the one that follows Rt. 1 over into old town and is not officially open yet... )? It looks like a small stream feeds into a larger one, then to the Potomac. I don't know if the "small" stream area is routed underground or if it is "kickable".....? It looks like it is right by that hotel.

Oh, and if I don't get back to your pm quickly, it's because my email notifcations from this board have been really spotty about getting through. Sometimes I get them and sometimes I don't.
