About to weaks ago we removed around 300 rock bass pro-larva from a nest in a small stream to raise indoors, as we were moving the fry into an artificial nest in the lab we noticed three larva that did not fit in with the rest they were removed and transfered to a seperate tank. Well today I was observing the unkown fry and noticed they look like young darters of some sort. Has anyone else found darter fry in a centrarchid nest, has this been documented before???

Did some research and found out that Orange throat darter fry move into smallmouth bass nests for protection and to feed on micro organisms that reside in there nest, So I assume they will also move into ambloplities nests aswell. Thanks for the help.......
