I have 2 green sunfish that are NOT living up to their name! their hiding and are petrified of everything! Ive had them for a week and so far they dont eat becasue there too busy hiding behind plants or under rocks. I took some rocks out so they would stop hiding as much but they still have places to hide. Buying some minnows, crickets and brine shrimp hoping it reduces their panzyness. Wish they were more like my bluegill which starting eating in 3 days!

Give them time they will come around.some of our took weeks to eat.
the smaller they are they seem to acclimate faster.my darters and orange spot sunfish took the longest to adjust to a tank life.

I agree with Tony. Give them time and they will come around......I got some small greens, about 1.5 inches that came in with goldfish at a local pet store. They have just started eating for me....now I wish I could get them to slow down.....I put them in with some 4 inch sarasa commets and they all gang up on a sarasa until its dead then they eat it.....What a bad idea that was......

I had the same concerns with my greens but they will come around, you will see, they will be so tame you can actually pet them in the water!

Greens are MEAN sunfish. The most Bass-like of the sunnies.
Years ago i had a nice tank of fish and added a 3" farm pond Green. Soon i had one big fat 5" Green. The tank was heavily decorated and planted and i could not net it out. He was smart. It was ALWAYS hiding when it was not eating. A Green character i see in the wild too.
I finally had to worm bait a pocket fisherman and CATCH him out of the aquarium. YES.
I have zero desire to keep another.
:)
They are nice to see while snorkeling tho.
Have fun, some teach them to eat from your hands. If it gets big enough you can eat him. Dont let him go back.
