Thoughts on Koi in local pond?

I hate to say it, but maybe it would be better to lime the pond than sell fish caught from it elsewhere if it really is VHS. When Irate posted that I assumed it was a joke, but even if a fish isn't symptomatic it shouldn't be moved to other water.

Did you end up getting it on the oatmeal? Once you catch one or two, you have to change to a new bait. I once caught a huge koi at famous Walden pond and released it [sorry HDT]. I saw that fish every spring for years after that and it would never again eat oatmeal, even without the hook. Funny thing is, the 3 other koi that always swam with him never did eat oatmeal again either - and they were never hooked!

I should have warned you they'd do poorly being handled in hot weather. Better to knock 'em on the head and put 'em on ice. If you have a China Town near by or big Cambodian neighborhood you might get a couple bucks. Portuguese people like them too.

I ended up just netting her when she came in close to shore, the rest are sketchy now, they come close but rain lately and lots of work and whatnot has kept me away from the pond (and getting my baby bullhead...). The fish did fine with transport just was very sickly when I actually got around to inspecting it. I guess I can treat them all, seeing as though I already have the meds and pool, being unemployed right now blows.
