I was out seining yesterday morning for a day camp of 8-14 year olds in a small coastal embayment to the Chesapeake Bay in Annapolis. There is a small park with a nice sloping beach front with some shoreline grasses in between a boat ramp and a fishing pier. I did about 8 hauls over two hours, 4 hauls with each group of kids, talked about the species we caught, what was different about them, why, etc. For a really hot day in a highly urban coastal watershed we had a nice catch. We had a great time and found plenty of cool fish and inverts.

American shad
Blueback herring/Alewife (very small and not something I see often)
Atlantic silverside
Mummichog
Striped killifish
Sheepshead minnow
Striped bass
White perch
Blue crab
Mud crab
Grass shrimp
Dark false mussel
Jellyfish - kind of early for Maryland but it has been really dry

To me...
That is what NANFA is all about.
The bonus is our individual pleasure.
Good Job.
