Hi there everyone. I was wondering, are there any Madtom species found in the proximity of Reno Nevada. I'd even be happy driving over the hill to the West slope of the Sierras, but am not sure where to begin my trek. Also, would a Seine be effective for catching these little buggers, or is turning over rocks and using some kind of dipnet a better way to go? I've often read of folks making homemade "Madtom Traps" out of old soda cans or bottles, but was wondering if any of you have had any experience with this? What kind of bait would a Madtom trap be baited with? Also, is this a similar practice that one could use to effectively catch Sculpins, or are they a beast of a different nature? I know that bait shops throughout the Sacramento Delta sell them as "bullheads" or "mudskippers" for Striper bait, but are there any located higher up in the Sierras, or in the high desert of the Great Basin? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Take care,
Ben.
