Might be getting a 225g(5'Lx3'Wx2'H) tank soon. I would love to make it a reef, but $5,000 for equipment isn't in the budget. So I thought it would make a good home for larger fish.

I would love to have a black arowana. I've been told that a black arowana would fit just fine in this size tank, compared to a silver. I know silvers can easily get over 3ft. I'm just wondering what sunfish, if any could be kept with a black arowana? And, if so, how many? Are there any other natives that could be kept with a black arowana?

Are we talking about Osteoglossum ferreirai? They also can certainly exceed 3 feet. Please make sure you have researched and are comfortable with the circumstances surrounding wild harvest of that species.

Yes, I was talking about Osteoglossum ferreirai. Guess people are always can be wrong, was told that they usually get smaller than a silver, and that was coming from somebody who has been keeping fish for over 30 years.

I read that jardinis can get 24" most places and a few people said that, then some other sites said the 40". I'm leaning toward the 24" due to the fact that was coming from people who keep them. So, that would definitely be a better choice.
