Question about Michigan Dace in Ohio...

How close do these dace come to Ohio? Are they in watersheds that are shared between the states? Has anyone looked for them in the Buckeye state? I don't have any good literature on Michigan fish and I think one of the ways state books FAIL is they don't give enough space to those species that may turn up in the state and where one should concentrate effort as these species are particularily interesting to me.
Thanks for any help.

One of the posts here awhile back mentioned catching some cool Michigan dace. Looking through the books I realized Michigan as a TON of pretty cool dace species and that two of them even seem to get close to Ohio - Northern Redbelly and Finescale.

Not much of a chance of either showing up in Ohio. Even where locally found here in Southeast Michigan they are very rare. I've only happened upon a handfull of Northern redbellies and still have not seen a Finescale. The correct type habitat for these two fish is more to the North and West of here.In Some Areas more to the North, Northern Redbellies can be quite abundant. Finescales are just not really abudant anywhere they are found in the Lower half of the state. They can however be locally abundant in the U.P.

I'll PM a source for more information.
If you have something interesting that you think I might have not seen Phil I'd be interested as well.. Really I've scoured that Clinton voucher site and about all nearby areas and have come up with nothing for Finescales. If they are still there they hide pretty good.. NRBD can be found in a few watersheds but only in the upper ranges and they are not common in the area by any means. NRBD are very localized to pretty strict localities.
Unless transplanted I can not see how either of these would be in Ohio. The habitat preference they have is just not in Northwest Ohio and only minimally in Southeast Michigan really.

Pretty sure neither species are in Fishes of Ohio...
Actually I think there is a reference that there was a failed introduction in the late 1920's of NRBD into Ohio.. Either way there is no really good habitat for them along the Maumee and Erie is just not habitat so it would be very unlikely to find them. There is just no connected habitat or suitable pathways into Ohio for these two fish. Even historically when the glaciers receded and the area was repopulated there was really not much of a suitable movement pathway for these two fish.
