Here is an interesting article, a bit outdated (it treats the names jhonny darter and tesselated darter interchangablly and uses the name boleostome instead of etheostoma) but it is the best non scientific description of captive darter behavior I have seen. A perfect page for those new to native, considering darters, and wondering how they behave in a tank.
