My Buddy turned me onto this cool local Trailside Museum. This bass was one of a few fish all with turtles on display. On a side note. All the other fish were sunfish. A few different types, but all very dark, almost black. Why would that be?

Unusually dark or pale color could be from intimidation by dominant fish (bass) or poor water qual or diet imbalance, among other things. Or maybe just old age.

The sunfish in the display with the bass were too big to be eaten. But, the bass would swim up and put his mouth right on them and then back away.
