Dustin will be leading a field trip for the Charlotte Area Aquarists Society (www.aquacharlotte.org) on Saturday November 7, 2009 to the NC Sandhills region between Rockingham and Fayetteville. Either Dustin or I will post more info here as plans evolve, if any NANFA folks want to join in.

How'bout a species list?

I know a spot there for Blackbanded Sunfish, 12 miles from Rockingham.

I'm still unable to commit 100% to going, but I would definitely like to, and if all goes well, I will be passing through the area on my way and would be interested in sharing a ride down there. I will keep you posted as my plans hopefully firm up.

Is someone going to have a permit, or will we be purchasing temporary licenses? And Gerald, as of last night, I have a working vehicle, so barring any "lemon-ness" from the things, I am planning on attending, and would like to meet up with you and carpool if that is alright...

Fritz is supposed to be going so we should have two permits with Geald's too.

Very cool. Well to ask whoever is going in advance...

I've been working very closely with the chair of my biology department to get specimens for the school's fish collection. I forwarded him the list of possible fish we could catch and he sent me back a list of species he'd be interested in getting. So I wanted to let everyone take a look in advance. I'm by no means asking anyone to sacrifice something they want to take home, but if we catch any of these species that we would otherwise be throwing back, I'd like to put some in formalin for my school...

I won't be able to come, and am rather dissapointed. Mr. Handsome is out on a research vessel for the next 3 weeks, and I don't think the dogs can cross their legs long enough for me to make the trip. Hopefully next time.

So far weve got Kanus and another guy coming down from VA, and at least 3 or 4 folks from Durham-Raleigh area. FRITZ are you still coming? Since the logistics seems to be in my lap now (after Dustin and the Charlotte gang all cancelled) we're planning to meet about 11:00 at the Aberdeen Fire Station on Lakeshore Drive, immediately west of US-1 (Sandhills Blvd) in Aberdeen. There's a small stream in front of the fire station (facing US-1) and Pages Lake behind the fire station. From there we'll head to a few other spots. If anyone decides last minute they want to come, send me a PM if you want my cell# to catch up with us on route.

Impressive list, I hope somebody got a picture of the dwarf waterdogs. They have always been a favorite.

I was the unlucky speeder. They put the 45 mph sign outside of town in the boondocks and at the bottom of a hill. People who know me thinks it's funny since I am a cautious driver.
