Tried to attach a photo to a post yesterday, but deleted because it got scaled from 500px to 800px wide and looked like crap. As a test, this source photo I uploaded here is 200px wide, and again it's getting scaled up to 800px in the post. I notice that the image in the lightbox after clicking is the correct 200px wide, but the "thumbnail" has been scaled to 800px.

Makes sense to have larger images scaled down, but do small images get scaled up? I haven't noticed this before -- something changed with last forum software upgrade?

Just checked back to an older post to see if this was happening before. The source image I uploaded in this thread was 350px wide, and stayed 350px in the reply. Seems this is something that has changed recently.

Peculiar. There is nothing in the board settings specifying whether small images should be scaled up, only whther large ones should be scaled down. I shall rummage around some more and see if I can figure this out.

Cool, thanks. 800px wide is often more than required to get the point across. I don't like how much large images break up the post so much, so I usually try to keep ones I post more like 400-600px.

It seems that external images are not resized, only uploaded images. Curiouser and curiouser.

I have posted a question on the forum for users of this software. Hopefully someone more tech-savvy than I can explain it. I haven't been able to turn anything up just by searching.

Drew changed some settings. Is the image the size you want it now?

Yup, no longer being blown up to 800px, staying where it was when I uploaded.

Didn't lose the resize of larger images, did you? This source one is 1000px wide:

Edit: Being displayed at 800px via HTML/CSS, but image file didn't get resized and is actually still 1000px. That's going to mean a trade-off in download time. If settings only allow you to choose one or the other (resize everything to 800px, or leave at uploaded dimensions and just display at max 800px), I guess it's up to you guys to make the call.

Thanks for looking into it.
