I just wanted to post the species I've trapped in a 2 day period by setting this cheap minnow trap in a local creek in a highly urban area. I've set the trap with 2 little clear vials (holed poked in them), one with saltine crackers and the other with dry cat food. I've set them during broad daylight (12-4pm) and overnight (6pm-7am). Trap is set parallel with the current and completely submerged.
Species thus far:
Banded killifish
Mummichogs (numerous)
Brown bullhead
Bluespotted sunfish
I was pretty impressed with the success rate. I apologize for the poor picture quality. Photography is NOT a hobby of mine.
