Can they be adapted to hard freshwater with a minimum of sodium? Say a teaspoon each of na cal and ca cl per ten gallons of water? Are they as nasty as cyprinodon varigatus?
Thanks.

I have kept them in hard freshwater. Used crushed coral or something as a buffer. Don't have any chemistry details. Seems like they were more laid back than variegatus. Maybe more like J floridae. I didn't keep them with touchy species though, as I recall. Let me know how you do with them. I like these guys. Should get some more some day. An under appreciated native!

Mark! Nice to hear from you. Not sure if the trip for those is on or if there's another trip planned. Thanks for the info. I'd been told on another forum that they were super nasty.
Give my regards to Susan.
