Green Sunfish Spawning Colours.

I caught this guy yesterday here in southwest Ontario during trout opener yesterday. I just think it's cool. He's kinda purply but it's a bit hard to see in the picture, enjoy! It's fat one.

ok im going to go out on a limb here....im sure to be corrected if wrong...i dont believe its a green sunfish. looks like a bluegill hybrid to me..and actually not that colorful. seems washed out...could be the light and the camera.

i think its just a pale bluegill

not a green sunfish, hybrid, or in spawning colors. its just a pure bluegill, looks to be a female. males have a bulkier head and a much larger opercular spot. their colors are much darker and they have black tips on the scales on top of their heads.

Yeah, I was kind of thinking it was just a bluegill too. Not a green.
