If we have 500 members paying $20 per year we bring in $10,000. If a $10 increase caused us to lose 175 members we would still bring in the same revenue, and also save costs on printing AC. This loss of membership is not likely so I strongly agree with a dues increase. I think $30 per year is very reasonable.
If some members have a hard time coming up with the $30, allow them to work it off. Let them lick envelopes for membership. I would guess that some members if made known of hardship cases would gladly donate a few extra dollars to help someone out. If I recall correctly, I have personally paid for membership for at least two college students who were unable to squeeze out the extra cash.
Bottom line, a ten dollar increase will generate more money, sure a few people will quit, but the increased revenue will justify the loss.
